Just Bored in English.

While everyone else around me is taking an optional requiz thing, I am bored. So, I decided, I should write a blog! Why not?!

Anyways, the newest assignment, memorizing a poem and presenting it, seems like a really fun thing to do. However, I cannot memorize. Seriously. Everything that goes in my brain, goes out…pretty much immediatly. :P Well, not really. But whatever.

My poem is called “Echo” by Daryl Hine. It is a beautiful poem. I still don’t know what it is truely about, because I haven’t really studied it yet. All I know is that it sounds graceful. And pretty. And…yeah.

…I think I should be doing my homework right now.

I just sneezed. People said “Bless you!”

I said, “Thanks.”

My life is so average.

EMILY SAYS “HEY THERE!!”

I, too, say,”Why, hello my dear friend.”

Demery is smirking to herself about me writing strange things. MWAHAHA.

….SPRING BREAK IS IN THREE DAYS! BOOM BOOM POW! 8D

Spring Break! (Yes, Another Spring Post)

I don’t know about everyone else, but I absolutely CANNOT WAIT until Spring Break! Which is only a week away! How exciting!

Okay, I’m super duper excited because this year, instead of staying home and being bored, my family is going to Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida! And as many of you have probably heard, “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter” is at Universal. Yes, a Harry Potter theme park. I think my dreams have come true. I can’t eat at the “Three Broomsticks”, however, because they don’t have any gluten-free options. Bummer. But I still get to go to Hogwarts, Hogsmeade, Ollivanders, Zonko’s, and other places.  Which I am SO excited for! …Yeah, I’m sorta obsessed with Harry Potter. :D

The hotel we’re staying at is such a pretty place. It is Hawaiian-themed. I want to go to Hawaii really bad, so this will suffice for now. My family has stayed at the Royal Pacific before and it’s a really nice place. We were going to stay at the Hard Rock hotel, but I convinced my parents that the Royal Pacific would be better. Mwahaha! At the Royal Pacific, there is an excellent restaurant called Emeril Lagasse’s Tchoup Chop. Yes, Emeril Lagasse! Sorry, I love watching cooking shows when I’m bored, so I’m pretty excited for that as well.

Anyways, I’m 99% sure my family will have an awesome time in Orlando. I know I will! :)

Lies.

“The average person tells 4 lies a day, and 1460 in a year. A total of 88,000 lies by the age of 6. And the most common lie is, “I’m fine”.

Why are we so afraid to reveal the truth?

Is it because we don’t want to get punished? To make other people believe we are “fine”, even when we’re not?

I (and probably everyone reading this) has dismissed someone’s question of concern “Are you okay?”

“Yeah, I’m fine..”

When really, we’re not fine at all. Don’t people want to get help? Don’t they want to be happy? That’s all I want in life. Seriously. All I want is to be happy. And if that means telling someone something you really didn’t want to tell them, so be it. What if they try to help you? If you have a bad grade and are scared to show your parents, just give them the truth and they will help. (It doesn’t always seem that taking away your cell phone or computer helps…but guess who’s more focused and can get better grades?). I’m just saying.

I mean, there’s special instances when you can tell a white lie like, “Does this make me look fat?”….hahaha just kidding ;) .

Whatever. Just thought I’d ramble about that. :) )

Classic Rock

Last night, I was bored out of my skull, so I decided to look through my mom’s ancient CD collection from her college days. Not knowing what to expect, I opened up the slightly dusty box from the storage room, and just stared. The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Pink Floyd, and The Police.

I was astounded. Not only did I know my mom was that cool when she was in college (just kidding, Mom..!), but I have now discovered music probably one thousand times better than today’s “artists”. I personally think none of todays music can possibly scratch the surface of the Beatles “Hey Jude”. Well, except for Coldplay. Okay, I think I’m slightly prejudiced.

Anyways, after I discovered my mom’s stash of classic rock CD’s, I burned them on iTunes, put them on my iPod, then just sat and listened to music for at least an hour. I totally immersed myself in music. I tuned out every day’s little annoyances: my mom nagging me, my brothers bothering me for whatever reason, my dad nagging me to clean up my room, and even my cats meowing obnoxiously in my face.

So, after my extensive music listening time, I have figured this out: I am now one of those people who are obsessed with classic rock. Which I’m okay with.

(If your wondering what albums I listened to, they are “Sticky Fingers” by the Rolling Stones, “Dark Side Of The Moon” by Pink Floyd, “Who’s Next” by The Who, and last but certainly not least “1″ by the Beatles.)

(My favorite single on each album is: “Can’t You Hear Me Knocking” (Rolling Stones); “Baba O’Riley” (The Who); “Time” and “Money” (Pink Floyd); and “Eleanor Rigby”, “Lady Madonna”, and “Hey Jude”. (The Beatles).)

Okay, that must be really confusing to read. Sorry. :)

O Christmas Tree :)

The sweet sap of our Christmas tree,

it smells sweet in our cozy home.

The fireplace crackles,

as we don the ornaments to the tree.

The Christmas tree lights sparkle,

we all stare, in awe.

It is truly Christmas time. :)

I am so elated that Stone Bridge is going to the State Finals in football! I just know we’re going to trounce Pheobus. I will be going with the marching band, so I know I will have an excellent time. We’re heading to the UVA stadium around 7:20. I hate getting up early, but I will glady get up early for the biggest football game of the year! It is supposed to be colder than the last game, which it was 35 degrees! So I may be cold from the weather, but I will be warm from the excitment of the game! :D

My awesome (step)cousin Lloyd

It’s been about three years since I’ve seen my hilarious step-cousin. He feels so much like family, we all consider him an actual cousin. I can almost remember every crazy thing he did.

When my brothers and I were all under ten, Lloyd would visit us from Florida with our grandfather. Lloyd was probably around twelve at the time, so I’m pretty impressed he could deal with me and my brothers, because we were probably very annoying. He would always make us laugh until we were crying. How can you not laugh when your crazy cousin ran down a set of stairs, his shirt exploding of Beanie Babies calling himself Fatman? My brothers and I didn’t even care we had to pick up all the Beanie Babies off the stairs, we just wanted him to do it again and again. Or when he would rub two pillows together and yelled “CLEAR!” and attacked you with the pillows? We would practically be screaming with laughter.

Of course, time passed. We all grew up. When my family was visiting Florida about 3 years ago, we saw Lloyd at his job, a busboy (he was still in highschool). It was so weird to see him acting all grown-up and different! A couple more years passed. Lloyd decided to sign up for the Marines once he was out of highschool. He went through basic training in Japan, and studied airplane and helicopter parts in America. When we received the news he would deployed to Afghanistan, in the midst of a terrible crisis, my whole family was traumatized. I immediately thought the worst, “What if he doesn’t make it out?”. I realized I had to shove this thought out of my head. “Of course he’ll be fine! Nothing can happen to him!”. Thankfully, I was right. He was sent back to America after about seven months.

President Obama’s speech last night reminded me of Lloyd. 30,00 more troops to go to Afghanistan. I hope with all my heart that Lloyd gets to stay home.

I miss him so much. I really need to see him again, soon.

Awkward Infatuation

Your eyes bore into mine, I bite my lip,

We’re gawky and self-conscious,

but who cares?

We hold hands,

It feels so right.

Our palms clammy from our gaucheness.

Awkward?

Yes, extremely.

Infatuation?

Obviously.

Summer night.

Thanksgiving!

I am a big fan of holidays. Not the weird and somewhat unnecessary holidays like Halloween. Halloween bothers me. I mean, it’s people asking for candy from strangers. I fail to see the significance in that “holiday”.

Wow, I sure can get off topic. Anyways. Thanksgiving. I love Thanksgiving. Sure, the drive to my grandma’s house is 3 hours. And the turkey is dry and cold because my grandma is a terrible cook. But what I really like is just seeing them. Awww, cue the cheesy music. But it’s true, it is actually nice to see your grandparents! Well, most of the time. Sometimes they can be a little…you know. Out there. But, it will be very nice to see them at Thanksgiving. :D
